Times they are a changing

My friends Amy and Phil came into town from San Diego with their six month old daughter Reagan. They were heading to a wedding and were hoping to find someone to watch Reagan for the evening. I volunteered to help them out, along with the support of another friend Meredith.  As the day was approaching I was sure Reagan would be easy to take care of, but I was still a little nervous. I hadn’t changed a diaper in quite a while, probably about 15 years. I cracked myself up realizing that the last kid I babysat was now a freshman in college. So to get back up to speed and make sure I was ready for “action” , I decided to turn to a trusted source for a little advice – Google. That’s right, I googled diaper changing, not only that, I even watched the recommended video. Needless to say, Reagan was adorable and sported a properly fitted diaper the entire day.

Romantic Gestures

Chris is always so romantic, sending flowers for no reason, picking out fun t-shirts, or opening a random bottle of champagne. But the other day he did something that totally surprised me. Sunday night he showed up at my house with a 12 pack of Coors light and  copy of high school musical.  I had been begging to see it and trying to convince him that we should watch it together. I kept saying, but you love musicals and his continued response…”not THAT musical!”  But what a guy, he brought it over anyway.  I guess I owe him one action packed horror flick now.

Doing our part….

Chris and I have been taking it upon ourselves to stimulate the local economy. Over the past few weeks we’ve hit up a bunch of local hot spots. We’ve been covering most of the DC area, taking advantage of all the great restaurants. First off was sushi at a swanky restaurant called Hooked in a Sterling shopping center. Then we celebrated Jenn’s birthday at Lauriol Plaza with pitchers of margaritas and sangria right outside Adams Morgan in DC. I tried a lobster roll at Jackson’s in the Reston town center.  (Not sure what they were thinking when they added the lettuce.) We caught the first few games of march madness at the Pour House on capitol hill, ate a crab tower at Clydes of Georgetown, and most recently had lunch at the Federal House in Annapolis on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It’s been a fun few weeks, let’s just hope that tax refund comes soon so we can continue eating our way through Spring!
