Lobsterman in Washington D.C.
We attended a wedding reception on the Spirit of Washington. The boat departed from Pier 4 at 6th & Water Streets SW, Washington, DC. As Chris and I were walking around the docks we discovered this statue named the Maine Lobsterman. The plaque said it was placed there by the “State of Maine Camp Fire – Cundy’s Harbor and their many friends” Does anyone know anything about Cundy’s Harbor?
Watermelon Caprese
One of the great things about summer time is grillin’ out. This year we tried something new on the grill – Watermelon! It’s really tasty and paired with some fresh motz and a balsamic reduction it makes for a perfect summer time treat.
Duke Gardens
I headed down to NC with Chris for the wedding of some friends at the Duke Gardens. They were gorgeous and the perfect setting for a wedding. Although I didn’t really get any pictures of the happy couple – Congrats Scott and Chelsea – I got plenty of the garden and the chapel. Sunday we headed over to Mike and Amanda’s place for a grill out with Pam and her family. It’s always great to see the kids, the are growing up so fast!
Girls Weekend
I headed down to Winston Salem, NC for a girls weekend. There were 5 of us, Abbie and her daughter Haley, and Erin and her daughter Penelope and me. We had a blast watching the two little girls playing together in the pool. We foolishly attempted to bring them to a wine festival with us, but ended up heading back to the house for our own wine and cheese party.
Sneaking Around
While I was up in NJ we had the opportunity to go check out Gramma’s house which is currently for sale. The house has been making quiet a bit of publicity. It’s located in Mountain Lakes, NJ with a lake view and gorgeous property. The house is unique in that it has retained so much of its character over the years and has only had 3 families live there since it was built in 1913, and one of those families was Dad’s.
We had fun reliving our memories and for us grandchildren most of those included playing outside in the yard. It’s funny how the simplest things made for some of the most fun times of our childhood.
Gramma used to keep her records on the back of the basement door. She recorded everyone’s height, birthdays, weddings, and best of all — vacations. Dad and Uncle Jon took another turn to be measured, notice anything suspicious?
